My fellow sistahs, March 8th was a special day, one set aside specifically to celebrate uman aal uova. I appreciate those strong men & women who made it possible for me, a young black female to be outspoken, daily walking in my purpose. Let the celebration walk with you daily. It's a reminder I have set for myself too.
Do not forget the power of the individual and how we contribute to the rise and fall of each other.
Think deeply to those times you raised a mocking eyebrow, muttered negatively under your breath, passed over another female for promotion because of a personality difference.
Think honestly of that time you referred to another female as being a show off or some other derogatory term, simply because she had the guts to speak up and speak out with confidence.
Think of how you view yourself, when you rise in the morning and you face yourself in your tiny mirror.
Ask yourself, 'am I truly being me, the best version of me?' Or 'do I shy away from that powerhouse I could be because I fear the unique in me?'
Think to the last time you complimented a sistah, simply because she looked fine, just landed that amazing deal, her kids were moving ahead...
Think to that time you comforted instead of relishing in her demise.
Am I...are you truly contributing to the woman in me?
