Each step along the way is a small win

Often in the midst of trying circumstances or with the onset of delays, when the journey seems to be filled with unforeseen twists and curves, taking longer than we had imagined, we may feel like giving up, we may focus more on what is not or how far we have left to go, even comparing ourselves with others who seem to be flying past us at breakneck speed, getting ahead, while we seem to be struggling and seemingly falling behind.

We may be too quick to forget how far we have come and that everyone's journey is oh so different, each person's path lined with different experiences, different stories of how we even came to be on that path in the first place.

My brother once reminded me to, "pause and celebrate the little wins". Because, yes, there are always little wins. Sometimes we miss them. Don't wait until the end and don't stop just because another hurdle has popped up.

Don't be so focused on getting to the end goal (a particular stage of life, that promotion, retirement, etc., )  that you miss the clear blue sky,  the feel of the sun on your skin, the little dandelions lining the way...and the long stretch of road behind you, reminding you oh so subtly how far you have come 🌻
