Choosing

Often, you come to a fork in the road. Sometimes you can see further down one path over the other. Sometimes you see no further than the starting point of each. When you can see ahead, a glimpse of one path, you might think you have an inkling of what lies ahead. Too often, we are wrong, because truly all we know is just that space that lies open; where we stand. The rest is unknown, to be determined . And so you must make a choice. You must choose a path.

The challenge now being deciding to continue down that path come hell or high water, seeing it through to the end; no matter what. Even when you fall, bruised, deciding to get up, determined to continue. Struggling to keep going, because you chose that path. Even when the scenery becomes boring and you lose interest, forcing yourself to continue; because you chose that path. Struggling to find the pleasure with with you had started, what now seems like an eternity ago.

The fact of the matter is, really you are allowed to change. No matter how far you have gone down that first path, you can decide to go back, all the way to the starting point and follow the other path. No path is fixed. No decision carved in stone. You can change your path. The choice is yours.

And the truth is, sometimes both paths are just different journeys to the same destination.
