Breakthrough the dim light of yesterday

There are days when it feels like the walls are closing in, times when everything is literally gray. All the lights are in but the rooms seem dim. On those days, it may seem as if nothing is going right. Your dreams seem impossible, far, out of your reach. You no longer remember where you started or how you got to this point. Enjoyment and pleasure have been eradicated from your trusty ole dictionary. You should be out dancing but the welcoming pulsating music and disco lights make your eyes hurt. Your purpose once so clear defined flits out of your grasp. The words you search for elude you over and over again. Nothing you try to do goes the way it was meant to. Things falls, things break and a 1 hour chore eventually wraps up hours later. The ringing of the phone is a blessing and a curse. That one day tries to define and cover over all other days and you quickly forget how beautiful other days have been. In that day, you tumble down a rabbit hole and it all seems to be a rumble in the jungle. Your strength is sapped and you are exhausted without exertion. Everything gets on your last nerve. You become overly sensitive to every thought, sound and smell. Best intentions rub you the wrong way and you ruminate on past failures. In your mind's eye, that day flows into future days, past days; defining all days. Eventually you will yourself sleep, eyes weighed down, willing the day to draw to a close. You don't know what the new day will come, so you sleep albeit with apprehension. You wonder if you can survive another cloudless day. But when you survive into the new day, you watch as dawn break, and with the rising of the sun a new sense of hope filters through. And 'that' day is held at bay...if even just for one day. But that is enough for you...because you are thankful for a break through day.
